Over-N-Out

Erika, Chef Juan and I. Good times!

Oops, i forgot to rotate it. this is a sweet, hand made dutch door. out of coco bolo.

yeeeahhaa, slap that ass, raw hide! While i was out at Playieta, i made friends with everyone at the resort. well, except for the hefe. I think i stole some of his thunder. anyways, the chef was originally from Cuba, played the gitar and cooked some extremely good food. There were carpentars on the project that have been there since day one... wow! they do great work. log work too. i worked a half day with them ripping teak and coco bolo. they use teak for framing. the stone work is all fossilised wood and crystal chunks from the near by cannon. So... While we were there, the first night, chef Juan pulled out his gitar. i decided to pull out the glow poi. the gitar playing came to a screching hult and the mouths droped. Chef was astounded. Then, i told him i do it con feugo. he said Que? COn FUEGO? I explained with the right materials i could make real fire poi. Needless to say...Game On! Chef was so stoked he invited the neigbors, family and all the other people at the resort. chef prepared a huge feast served on bananna skins. I spun fire on the beach, everyone pretty much got wasted. the chef went to bed as some guests were getting up. I think that the Hefe was happy to see us leave. Yea.. A job well done!
In the photo above... A neighbor boy let afew of us ride horses on our own. Wow! I havent been on a horse in years and i ended up with the spicey one. Imagine that! nick on the horse that dosent want to slow down. It was a fun experience. we rode down to the beach, galloped through the sand like in the movies. yea, me.. I was white nuckeling the reings at times. supper fun. now i know why cowboys walk the way they do...

Whatz Up!  Nick Here, writing from the rad bungalow on Bastimentos that im staying at. Geez, where to start. Well, after a long ass travel day (where i really didnt even get hasseled for all my carpentry shit) Erika and i arrived in the kinda crappy town of Bocas del Toro. Ya,  they dont have alot of respect for there land there. Anyways, instantly meet  a few cool ass peeps. Susanna (the land owner), Geo (the caretaker of sorts) and Larry (a burnner who has set up shop in Bocas and is involved in a few big projects there). Got a well deserved good nights sleep, woke up with a few chores to knock out and fianally got ready to head out (island time bro, it takes forever to do anything) So... We stocked up on veggies and fruit and hightailed it the heck out of there destened for Bastimentos. Half hour later, we pulled up to a rad beach with an incredible setup. Multipul bungalows (i have my own, stoked!). Un loaded and it was dark. The next morning Geo and i headed out for a surf sesh. Ya, Geo, he grew up on Kawaii, so he is pretty insane on a board. He dosent mind that i still novis. we went out to Playa Larga a, rad beach break with lefts and rights. The bigger sets came in around head high. and the water is about 85 degresse, (which is suppose to be the chilliest all year) WoW! Yesterday, we did a long hike around one side of the island, cruzed through the Nobe's (indigenous indian tribe) village, drank pinna colladas with a guy from sea-town (played the name game and realized we know some of the same people from back home). Dude... Last night was national geographic going on. Saw a Sloth, a praying mantis eating bugs, a huge hermit crab, a big ass bug that looked like a leaf, golden orb spiders, and the list goes on. Have i mentioned that Susanna is an insane vegetarian shef. My god, the experience has been great. I just got in from a surf with Geo, the neibor Carlos and i. Super fun.... I havent been to Lily's beach yet. she has been in my mind and in my dreams daily. Ill update again soon. Lunch is being served!
